About CCPJD | Human Rights & Development NGO in Nigeria

The Civil Centre for Peace, Justice, and Development (CCPJD) is a non-governmental organization registered under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA). Established in 2006 and officially registered in 2012. CCPJD was founded in response to the hardships faced by ethnic minorities and indigenous communities in the Niger Delta and Nigeria, particularly women and children who remain vulnerable, marginalized, and underdeveloped.

CCPJD is dedicated to advancing human rights, good governance, and environmental sustainability. This includes combating systemic injustices such as sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), violence against women and girls (VAWG), discrimination  against sexual and gender minorities, inequality, child abuse, and the compounding impacts of environmental degradation and climate change on vulnerable populations. The organization actively promotes transparent institutions, democratic accountability, and the protection of marginalized groups, providing legal aid, advocacy, and humanitarian services in alignment with global human rights initiatives.

Our work supports and contributes to the efforts of UN Women, the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), Every Woman Global Treaty, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC) the African Charter for Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR), the International Commission on Peace and Food (ICPF),
